- Color Matching & Blending

- Localized Paint Repair
Repairing smaller areas when the condition of the panel allows it.
- Basecoat, Clear Coat & Finishing
Building the finish and completing the final polish and inspection.
The Refinishing Process
How Westex Finishes a Collision Repair
- 01Prepare the Repair
The repaired or replaced panel is prepared so the surface is ready for refinishing. That can include sanding, masking, cleaning and the appropriate primer or sealer.
- 02Match the Color
We use the vehicle's paint information and computerized color-matching tools as part of determining the color needed for the repair.
- 03Determine the Blend
The surrounding finish is evaluated to determine where blending is needed so the transition between repaired and existing panels is consistent.
- 04Apply the Finish
Basecoat and clear coat are applied in our dedicated paint booth as required for the repair.
- 05Finish & Inspect
After the refinishing work is complete, the repaired area is finished and inspected for color, gloss and overall appearance.
Color Matching & Blending
The Paint Code Is the Starting Point
A factory paint code identifies the original color formula, but the finish on the vehicle can change over time and may also vary because of previous repairs or how the color was originally applied.
Westex uses computerized color matching and evaluates the vehicle's existing finish before refinishing the repair. When needed, color is blended into an adjacent panel to create a smoother transition between the repaired area and the surrounding paint.
The goal is not to make one freshly painted panel stand out. It is to make the repair work with the vehicle around it.

FAQ
Auto Painting Questions
- Will the repaired paint match the rest of my vehicle?
- Westex uses the vehicle's paint information, computerized color matching and blending when needed to make the repaired area work with the surrounding finish. Exact refinishing requirements depend on the color and repair.
- Do you have to paint the entire vehicle?
- Usually not for a collision repair. Refinishing is based on the panels involved in the repair, with adjacent panels blended when necessary. Full-vehicle and custom paint work can be discussed separately for restoration or specialty projects.
- Why would another panel need to be blended if it wasn't damaged?
- Blending can help create a gradual color transition between a refinished panel and the vehicle's existing paint, particularly with colors where a direct panel-to-panel transition could be noticeable.
- How long does automotive painting take?
- Timing depends on the number of panels, preparation required, the rest of the collision repair and the refinishing process. Westex can explain the expected timing after evaluating the vehicle.
- Is your paint work covered by the Westex warranty?
- Completed repair work is backed by Westex's lifetime written guarantee, subject to the terms of the written warranty.
