Getting Started
Getting Started
- Do I need an appointment for an estimate?
- You can start by sending photos or calling Westex. Depending on the damage, an in-person inspection may be needed before the complete repair needs can be determined.
- Can you give me a final estimate from photos?
- Photos are useful for getting started and understanding visible damage, but they may not reveal damage behind panels or components. A complete repair assessment can require an in-person inspection, measurements or disassembly.
- Do you repair all makes and models?
- Yes. Westex works on all makes and models, with services ranging from everyday collision repair to commercial, classic and specialty vehicles.
- What should I have ready if insurance is involved?
- If available, have your insurance company, claim number, adjuster information, accident photos and any estimates or claim documents you already received. You do not need to have everything before contacting Westex.
Insurance & Claims
Insurance & Claims
- Do you work with my insurance company?
- Yes. Westex works with all insurance companies and communicates with the adjuster about repair-related information and documentation.
- Do I have to use the shop my insurance company recommends?
- No. In Texas, you can choose the repair facility for your vehicle. An insurance company may recommend a shop, but the choice remains yours.
- What if I haven't filed the claim yet?
- You can still contact Westex. We can explain what repair information may be useful as you get started. Coverage and claim decisions remain between you and your insurance company.
- What is a supplement?
- A supplement documents additional repair needs found after the initial estimate or assessment. This can happen after damaged components are removed and previously hidden collision damage becomes visible.
- What about my deductible?
- Whether a deductible applies and how much it is depend on the coverage and claim. The deductible is established by the insurance policy, not by Westex. If you are unsure what applies, confirm it with your insurance company.
- What if my insurance company says my vehicle is a total loss?
- The insurance company makes the total-loss and valuation decision. Questions about the valuation or settlement should be addressed with the carrier. Westex does not determine whether the vehicle is a total loss.
Repair Process
Repair Process
- How long will my repair take?
- Timing depends on the extent of the damage, parts availability, insurance approvals when applicable, refinishing and whether additional damage is discovered after disassembly. Westex can give you a better expectation after evaluating the vehicle.
- What happens when I bring my vehicle to Westex?
- Westex inspects and documents the visible damage and explains the next stage of the repair. Depending on the vehicle and damage, additional inspection or disassembly may be needed before the full repair scope is known.
- What happens if you find more damage after taking the vehicle apart?
- Additional collision damage can become visible after panels and components are removed. Westex documents the newly discovered repair needs and, when insurance is involved, submits the information to the adjuster as part of the supplement process.
- What happens if my vehicle has sensors, cameras or other driver-assistance equipment?
- Modern vehicles can have equipment incorporated into bumpers, windshields and other repaired areas. Westex evaluates what is affected by the repair and determines what additional procedures may be required for the specific vehicle.
Parts, Paint & Warranty
Parts, Paint & Warranty
- What is the difference between OEM, aftermarket and recycled parts?
- OEM parts come from the vehicle manufacturer. Aftermarket parts come from another manufacturer. Recycled parts are previously used original components. Which option makes sense can depend on the vehicle, repair, availability and claim. Westex can explain what is being proposed before the part becomes part of the repair. In Texas, vehicle owners have the right to choose replacement parts, although an insurance company is not required to pay more than a reasonable amount.
- Will the repaired paint match my vehicle?
- Westex uses the vehicle's paint information, computerized color matching and blending when needed. The exact refinishing approach depends on the color, existing finish and repair.
- Does Westex warranty its repairs?
- Westex provides a lifetime written guarantee on completed repairs. The specific coverage, conditions and limitations are defined in the written warranty provided with the repair.Warranty Details
- Are replacement parts covered by the same warranty?
- Not necessarily. Replacement parts may have separate warranty terms from the manufacturer, supplier or other source. Westex can explain what applies to the parts installed during a particular repair.
